Music and Aging: Deadheads and other Babyboomers
Rebecca Adams, PhD, UNCG Gerontology Program Director, has explored connections between music and identity since she taught research methods and social theory to sociology graduate students by taking them on tour with the Grateful Dead in the summer of 1989.
Adams provides an overview of the effects of aging on music performance and consumption and the challenges they pose to identity and community, specifically for aging Deadheads and other baby boomers who have been avid consumers of music throughout their lives.
Please bring your lunch to enjoy during GROWTH presentations.
