May 2018 Rachel Pennington graduated with an M.S. in Gerontology and a Certificate in Business Foundations from the Bryan School of Business. She is currently the director of an adult day health center which provides activities and health services for many older adults and adults with special needs.
“I came to the UNCG Gerontology program knowing that I wanted to work with the older adult population, but my peers, instructors, and internship opportunities really helped me to establish a plan and clear goals for my career. I was able to take courses that covered not only gerontology but social work, nonprofit management, business, and entrepreneurship. This education provided me with tools in my tool-belt that have been invaluable in my work linking older adults to home and community based services. It is also a great privilege to support family caregivers and provide care for people living with dementia through my work in adult day services.”
